Global Shapers Norfolk Launches Social Campaign to Give Voice to 757 Millennials

NORFOLK, Va. —Global Shapers Norfolk ( is excited to announce the launch of: “Millennials of Hampton Roads,” a social media campaign to encourage Hampton Roads’ Millennials to unite together and drive creative change.

Global Shapers Norfolk will launch its social campaign this spring in response to
recent comments from one of Virginia Beach’s highest ranking officials, who highlighted the Millennial generation in a less than positive light.

“We’d like to respond with an encouraging message. Millennials are proud to live in the 757 and we love our community,” said Hub Vice Curator Claire Wulf Winiarek.We believe there is a meaningful role for young leaders in advancing a vibrant and inclusive region that works together.”

The campaign will serve as a regional platform to support Millennials in sharing their voice, the diversity of their economic and social presence in Hampton Roads, and real-time community interests and concerns unique to our region’s fastest-growing generation. The campaign will include a Facebook presence, launch of an Instagram page, and feature testimonials from 757 Millennials on economic, community, and social action concerns and opportunities.

“In addition to our social campaign launch, we are excited to announce our second-annual Nomination and Selection Process,” said Hub Curator Bo Ram Yi. “We are looking for young community leaders, ages 20-29, committed to making a difference in our community through bold, positive and collaborative change.”

Global Shapers Norfolk will host a conversation on Millennial global leadership and entrepreneurialism, featuring World Economic Forum Young Global Leader (YGL) Eunice Cofie, March 28, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Innovation Research Park at Old Dominion Univ., 4211 Monarch Way in Norfolk. The event is open to all, including Hampton Roads Millennials who wish to learn more about Global Shapers Norfolk, meet fellow Millennial leaders, and hear from YGL and entrepreneur Eunice Cofie.
