"Global Shapers Norfolk is a hub of the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers Community developed and led by distinguished, diverse young men and women under 30, driven by a shared responsibility to make a difference in their community. We are apolitical, not-for-profit, and committed to creating a better world by activating Millennials in Hampton Roads."

As the first Global Shapers Hub in Virginia, we’re dedicated to serving the Hampton Roads region. We have a unique Hub that serves seven coastal cities: Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Newport News and Hampton. Our mission is to activate 757 millennials to drive creative change locally and share ideas globally. We choose bold projects, and have fun doing it.

The Global Shapers Community is a network of Hubs developed and led by young people who are exceptional in their potential, their achievements and their drive to make a contribution to their communities. Supported by the World Economic Forum, there are now Global Shapers Hubs in over 400 cities around the world.

The concept behind Global Shapers is that to change the world, we must change one local community at a time. Our new Norfolk Hub will soon choose a project to make a positive impact on the Hampton Roads Region, and we welcome your input and support as we progress.

World Economic Forum Founder and Executive Chairman Professor Klaus Schwab created Global Shapers to give millennials a seat at the table. Over 50 percent of the world's population is under the age of 27, and by 2025, millennials will make up an estimated 75 percent of the workforce in Hampton Roads.

The Norfolk Hub was founded by Eileen Guo in April 2015. As a former Washington D.C. Shaper and current member of the World Economic Forum: Global Agenda Council Social Media committee, Eileen now serves as an advisory board member.

The inaugural class of shapers include Bo Ram Yi, Claire Winiarek, Joe Dillard, Karen Hopkins, Aazia Mickens-Dessaso and Elizabeth Rubi.

As we move forward as the Commonwealth’s first Global Shapers Hub, please get in touch with us if you’re interested in partnering with us or if you have a potential Shaper you recommend to join our team.
